Hello — I'm Jonny.

Jonathan Gray is a Level 3 qualified personal trainer and certified sports therapist in Coatbridge, specialising in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and strength & conditioning. Based at PureGym Coatbridge, Jonathan helps clients across Coatbridge, Airdrie, and Bellshill build the body — and the recovery — they've actually been chasing.

Do I need any gym experience to train with Jonathan?
No, you don't need any gym experience. Every session is built around your current ability, and Jonathan walks you through every exercise so you understand exactly what you're doing and why. Most clients start exactly where you are — never having stepped foot in a free-weights area or always feeling lost the moment they leave the cardio machines.
What's the difference between a personal trainer and a sports therapist?
A personal trainer builds programmes that grow your strength, fitness, and confidence. A sports therapist diagnoses and treats injuries with hands-on techniques like manual therapy and rehab plans. Jonathan is qualified in both — so if a niggle shows up mid-programme, you don't need a separate referral. It gets handled in-house.
Is sports therapy only for athletes?
Not at all. Most of the injuries Jonathan treats come from everyday life — desk-related back tightness, dodgy shoulders from sleeping awkwardly, knee discomfort from running about with the kids, or that lower back that's been grumbling since you turned 35. Sports therapy works for any active body.
How long until I see results?
Most clients feel stronger and move better within the first 3–4 weeks. Visible body changes typically appear from week 6 onwards, depending on your starting point and how consistent you are between sessions. Jonathan tracks every session so progress is measurable, not guesswork.
What if I'm carrying an existing injury?
That's exactly the kind of client Jonathan trains every week. The first session screens what's going on, and the programme is built around the injury — strengthening what needs strengthening, mobilising what's stuck, and avoiding what aggravates it. You don't have to wait until you're "fixed" to start.
Where do you train clients?
All sessions take place at PureGym Coatbridge. You don't need a PureGym membership specifically for sports therapy or rehab consultations — Jonathan can arrange access. For full personal training, a standard PureGym membership applies, which is the cheapest part of the whole equation.
